Configure OBS overlays
stream8.io overlays are live web pages you design once and add to OBS as a browser source. Your hunt, chat and alerts update in real time — and the link never changes.
1. Open OBS Studio
Sign in to stream8.io and open OBS Studio from the workspace menu. You'll see your scenes along the top — pick one or create a new scene.
2. Add and arrange widgets
Click Add widget and choose from the hunt panel, live chat, alert list, stream alerts and more. Drag widgets into place — they snap to a grid — and resize them to fit your layout. Text rescales automatically so nothing overlaps when you shrink a widget.
3. Style it
Use the preset styles (Neon, Minimal, Gold, Cyber) or customise colours, fonts and content per widget. What you see in the studio is exactly what OBS shows.
4. Copy your OBS link
Click Copy OBS link. This link is permanent — you can edit the scene whenever you like and OBS picks up the changes without a new link. Keep it private: anyone with the link can view that scene.
5. Add it to OBS
In OBS, add a Browser source, paste your link and set the size to match your canvas — usually 1920 × 1080. The overlay appears live and updates as your hunt, chat and alerts change.
Tips
- Use separate scenes (for example "Gaming" and "Just chatting") with different widgets, each with its own permanent link.
- The hunt widget scrolls smoothly through your games — you can set the scroll speed in its settings.
- If the overlay looks blank in OBS, check you copied the full link and that the scene has visible widgets.
Next: set up stream alerts or connect Kick.
